For business owner, Laurel, her love of books developed at an early age. Books were borrowed during the school year through the school library and purchased through Scholastic Book Fairs. Her trips to a bookstore were precious and rare. But when that opportunity did arise, magic happened - browsing, while surrounded by the comforting book-print smell and visuals of beautiful bindings or colorful jacket covers, was like entering into another world. This was the genesis of Laurel's dream to bring a bookstore to a Vermont community where this opportunity did not already exist - a place where the business would support the connectedness of the community, and the community would support the life of the bookstore. 

So in 2023, Blue Moon Book Shop came to life! It emerged as a community pop-up, vending throughout the summer and fall at local businesses and farmers markets, mostly in areas without a bookstore - affording those who visited with the opportunity to browse or purchase a book within their community. The first two seasons of this bookshop's existence were successful, thanks to the generosity of local business owners willing to host this fun start-up and to all of the customers who visited - with curiosity and interest, and who browsed and purchased. 

Blue Moon Book Shop's life continues....

The book inventory spans from children's & YA to adult literature and is comprised of new and used books, offering different genres from mystery to classics as well as featuring authors from The New York Times best sellers. The inventory includes a focused collection, promoting wellbeing through the lens of nature, arts, spirituality, creativity and fun - all supported within the framework of community and connection.

AND ... a very important note:

The plan for the evolution of this pop-up bookshop is next to a mobile unit (Summer, 2025) - traveling throughout the community, offering wellbeing and connection through books; and, then, finally, finding its way home to a brick and mortar (hoped for 2027), residing in the community where all are welcome to  gather, browse, shop - experiencing their own unique magic from within their town's bookstore.
